Where did you attend medical school?

University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) – San Antonio, TX.

 

What other educational credentials do you have?

– Master of Biomedical Sciences.
– Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with Specialization in Sports & Fitness Management as well as Exercise Science.

 

What are your particular clinical interests and why?

I’m interested in primary care as I know how important it is to have a medical home to aid in navigating our health system. I’m also interested in Sports Medicine as I’ve learned the importance of being able to manage sport related injuries.

 

What inspired you to pursue a career in family medicine?

I was inspired to pursue a career in family medicine by Dr. Robyn Phillips-Madson who was the founding dean of my medical school. She often discussed the importance that primary care plays in our society as well as an emphasis on underserved areas.

 

Why did you choose the Community Based Family Medicine Residency program?

I have personal and family ties to San Antonio. I grew up in a family that is highly involved in the community here as well. When learning about the mission and values associated with the Community-Based Family Medicine Residency program, I felt that it aligned with my personal and career goals. With this said, I feel that it will provide me the opportunity to grow as a physician and contribute to my ability to care for the population of patients that represent this community.

 

What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?

Outside of medicine I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy participating and watching sports. I like to read self help books, biographies, and health related books. My hobbies include photography, candle making, and gardening.
