Dr. Erin Parker D.O.

What is your hometown?

Hahira, Georgia.

Where did you attend medical school?

Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Auburn, Alabama

What other educational credentials do you have?

B.S. in Biology with minor in Chemistry from Valdosta State University – Valdosta, Georgia.

What are your particular clinical interests and why?

I am interested in full-spectrum family medicine including preventative medicine, women’s health, procedures, pediatrics, etc. During medical school, I enjoyed every single specialty I rotated in because it gave me the opportunity to practice in different ways. When I had my Family Medicine rotation, that particular physician practiced full-spectrum family medicine. It was during that rotation where I found my passion because I was able to incorporate all those different specialties essentially into one

Why did you choose Family Medicine?

One of the main reasons I chose family medicine was because I wanted a specialty in which I could have long term relationships with my patients. In family medicine, we see everyone from newborns to geriatrics. I love the thought of being able to grow with my patients as they continue through the different stages of life. Your patients end up become your extended family and that was very important to me.

Why did you choose the Community Based Family Medicine Residency program?

I chose this program because it was a community based program. During this residency, we are able to rotate throughout the entire city of San Antonio and are able to experience healthcare in all the different areas. By doing this, you really do feel as though you are part of the community. I knew after residency I wanted to practice in a more rural setting, so having this community based background was the best opportunity for me to grow into the physician I always saw myself becoming.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?

My hobbies and interests outside of medicine include spending time with my family, playing with my two dogs Knox and Boone, spending time outdoors, trying new restaurants, and watching college football (GO DAWGS!).
