Crystel Harb DO, MPH

Dr. Crystel Harb completed her residency at the Community Based Family Medicine (CBFM) Residency Program in San Antonio in June 2024 where she served as Chief Resident and received the Outstanding Leadership & Professionalism award. She joined the CBFM core faculty and was appointed as Associate Director of Osteopathic Education in July 2024. She was promoted to Director of Osteopathic Education and Director of Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum in July 2025, and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM).

Dr. Crystel Harb is board-certified through the American Osteopathic Association in Family Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. Additionally, she is board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine through the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. She graduated with honors from UIWSOM. She also holds an M.P.H. in Epidemiology from the University of Texas School of Public Health and a B.S. in Biology with a Chemistry minor from St. Mary’s University, both summa cum laude.

Dr. Harb has authored her own Public Health Epidemiology textbook and developed several courses in contact tracing, global health, environmental science, public policy, and health behaviors that she taught at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned the Merit Teaching and Life Award for Outstanding Professional Faculty 2017-2023. Her research has been funded by grants from the CHEST Foundation, American Thoracic Society, and National Endowment for the Humanities. She has published peer-reviewed articles and presented posters at national conferences.

Her leadership roles outside of academia include serving on the Bexar County Medical Society Public Health and Patient Advocacy Committee, being elected as a physician delegate for the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, and serving as Chief Resident of the CBFM Residency Program for 2023-2024. She is currently on the Board of Directors for MedHab, a company whose primary goal is to empower both patients and healthcare providers with real-time data for chronic care management through innovative remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology.
