Dr. Brandon Davis D.O.

What is your hometown?

St. Louis, Missouri.

Where did you attend medical school?

The University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) – San Antonio, TX.

What other educational credentials do you have?

B.A. in Biology from The University of the Incarnate Word – San Antonio, TX.

What are your particular clinical interests and why?

Mental Health, Sports Medicine, and Dermatology

Mental Health has always interested me. Ever since I first took Psychology in high school, I was captivated. I crave knowledge about others, and there is nothing more fascinating than getting to truly understand another person at a deeper, more personal level.

Sports medicine feels like the perfect way to marry my past, present and future. I used to run around my father’s place of work, country clubs and indoor sports/ recreation facilities (he was a tennis coach). I had freedom to run around, be active, and participate in all these activities around me. I someday hope to integrative health care and a sporting/ recreational facility to bring it all full circle.

Dermatology is interesting because it is something in medicine you can physically see. It’s such a relief to see the fruits of your labor produce (pun intended!). In dermatology, you can see the improvement in your patient’s conditions improve right before you own eyes. It’s a great positive feedback mechanism.

Why did you choose Family Medicine?

Oh gosh, where do I start!? Family medicine chose me first. I didn’t understand that I had a natural talent for it until I was told by my preceptors and professors through UIWSOM. I enjoyed all of my rotations so much, that I had some difficulty in deciding what my future would look like in medicine. I kept changing my field after each rotation. After I started participating in family medicine, there was this “aha” moment where I was able to enjoy all the fields of medicine together, yet I was also able to have a strong patient relationship that I always wanted.

Why did you choose the Community Based Family Medicine Residency program?

If you know anything about me, I love my kids, my wife, and San Antonio. I fell in love with this city the moment I moved here. I decided to join a program that did the most to help the San Antonio Community, the community I was going to raise my family in. TIGMER was the perfect opportunity to serve those in need via Communicare.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?

Running (to de-stress), playing and teaching tennis (to my kids and others that are interested), and binge watching show, including anime. I was hooked thanks to Naruto. I also don’t mind shamelessly singing to music at the top of my lungs while I am sitting in my car. You would be very fortunate to witness it.
