Where did you attend medical school?
- University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM).
What other educational credentials do you have?
- Bachelor of Chemistry.
What are your particular clinical interests and why?
- My primary interests are in musucloskeletal medicine, rural medicine, diabetes care, and pediatric primary care.
What inspired you to pursue a career in family medicine?
- I want to continue learning as much as I can about my patients and the human body, so Family Medicine was a perfect fit.
Why did you choose the Community-Based Family Medicine Residency program?
- I liked that this program allows for me to directly give back to the San Antonio community while strengthening my clinical skills. I am also a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine that practices Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), and I liked that this program incorporates Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) into its curriculum and allows for recognition in the area.
Do you have any publications?
- Backgrounds and Perspectives of San Antonio Street Sleepers. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38813220/. A qualitative interview study of relationships of life events and homelessness.
Do you have any previous research work you have undertaken in the past?
- Osteopathic Treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction: A Novel Approach. – Investigation if treating specific structures related to the TMJ with OMT can result in improvement of both subjective and objective measures of TMJD. Research currently underway.
Have you done any Poster Presentations in the past?
- Plenary (oral) Presentation and poster for Osteopathic Treatment of TMJD: A Novel Approach. Poster presentation for Backgrounds and Perspectives of San Antonio Street Sleepers. Poster presentation for “Cavitary Lesions in an Undiagnosed Diabetic” at ACOI; a case presentation about a patient on my hospital service who had an incidental finding of cavitary lesions and her differential diagnosis and workup.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
- I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, drawing, illustration, and general crafting. I love animals and learning more about different types of animals including cats & dogs, aquariums, terrariums, backyard chickens & ducks, entomology, and more. In my down time I enjoy horror movies and reading horror stories. I’ve recently gotten into baking and am slowly learning other practical skills like home improvement and computer repair.
