What are your particular clinical interests and why?
I am particularly interested in Sports Medicine, OMT, and procedures. I plan on applying to a Sports Medicine fellowship in the near future. Teaching patients about how to better their musculoskeletal system has always been an area I have been passionate about. OMT goes hand in hand with being able to better your MSK system which is why I plan on becoming certified in OMT at the end of residency as well. I am also interested in ultrasound guided procedures and joint injections.
Why did you choose Family Medicine?
I chose Family Medicine because I wanted a speciality where I would be able to have a long-term relationship with my patients. I want to be able to see patients of all ages while being able to grow alongside them at every stage of their life. Family Medicine is also a specialty where you can see diseases of a broad variety.
Why did you choose the Community Based Family Medicine Residency program?
I chose this program because as a medical student I rotated at many of the same sites that we have in the program. The attendings were very knowledgeable as well as willing to teach. The residents on the rotation at the time were very open and friendly to us as medical students and I felt like it was an environment I wanted to be a part of for the next 3 years. To add, we have many rotations where we travel around the city of San Antonio and are able to experience healthcare in different areas, which is an interesting perspective.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
My hobbies and interests outside of medicine include traveling, hiking, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my family.
