What inspired you to pursue a career in family medicine?
- During my final year of medical school, I realized the importance of achieving a better work-life balance for both myself and my family. At the same time, I wanted to be in a specialty that offers a diverse range of medical cases. I was also drawn to a field where I could incorporate education and preventative medicine into my practice, while building long-term relationships with my patients.
Why did you choose the Community Based Family Medicine Residency program?
- The program’s main clinic serves large underrepresented populations, many of whom haven’t seen a physician in many years. At the Continuity Clinic, a large sum of patients present with undifferentiated conditions. Working there was my first real exposure to the depth of what it means to be a well-trained family doctor. I continue to be impressed by how my faculty navigate complex patient cases and guide them toward better health. Their ability to address severe and multifaceted issues has inspired me to be a better clinician.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
- I’m a homebody who enjoys cooking, baking, and occasionally hosting. I enjoy preparing elaborate meals and presenting them with the same care and artistry you’d find in a fine dining restaurant—a passion I developed during COVID social distancing. Spending time with my husband and our pets is one of my greatest joys, and I never miss a chance to show you pictures of my cats and dogs. When I’m out and about, you’ll likely find me at an estate sale or antique store. Recently, I’ve also developed an interest in astrophotography.
