What is your hometown?

  • Pasadena, CA.

Where did you attend medical school?

  • Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

What other educational credentials do you have?

  • B.S. Molecular and Cellular Biology – Johns Hopkins University.

What are your particular clinical interests and why?

  • My areas of interest include chronic disease management, preventative health, and palliative care.I find that chronic disease management often presents the opportunity to work longitudinally with patients and develop a mutual understanding of individual life circumstances, including social determinants of health and shared healthcare goals. A committed primary care physician can help empower people to achieve their own healthcare goals, and work towards better health.I emphasize preventative healthcare both on an individual and public health basis throughout my practice. Early screenings, intervention, and prevention enable patients to maintain their quality of life. Meanwhile, my background in economics helps me investigate the profound positive societal and public health impact that this type of care offers.I developed an interest in palliative care during my medical school training following multiple rotations in this field. I enjoy helping patients determine their own, individual goals of care. Working with them to put these goals into practice can help improve quality of life throughout hardship.

What inspired you to pursue a career in family medicine?

  • I chose Family Medicine because I enjoy incorporating a holistic, patient-centered approach to a broad spectrum of medical concerns. I am passionate about patient advocacy, and Family Physicians are often on the front lines of these conversations. Finally, like many who are passionate about the profession, Family Medicine physicians are uniquely poised to help improve patient health longitudinally

Why did you choose the Community Based Family Medicine Residency program?

  • I chose the Community Based Family Medicine Residency program because of its strong emphasis on community health and advocacy for the underserved. I am excited to work alongside likeminded professionals as this is a sentiment that I found continually expressed by CBFM residents and faculty. Additionally, San Antonio is an exciting city to live in with plenty of great places to eat and things to do such as the nearby riverwalk, lots of parks and hidden gems. As my wife is in the military, the nearby access to the base makes San Antonio a great place for us to both live and work.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?

  • I love spending time outdoors hiking, camping or running. My favorite TV show is The Great British Baking show and I like to try my hand at new baking recipes whenever I get the chance. Beyond hobbies you can find me spending time with my wife and our cat “Radish.”
